"Yoga" comes from the Sanskrit word "yug" which means to unite, uniting our individual self with that which gave rise to it - the Divine. And the practices of yoga and meditation are the means for this.

Our first dinner night for the year will be held at  Jirochyo Japanese restaurant, 529 Hampton Street, Hampton.    These dinner nights are informal and a good chance to get to know other yoga students outside of class.

30th     Children's Yoga classes start again.   Wednesdays 4.15 - 5.00pm   

 

These classes  for children  5 - 9 years old, empower our Little Yogis through yoga principles and mindfulness.   In this fun, dynamic program we bring together art, story telling, music, posture work, deep relaxation and stillness.    These classes will encourage kind peer and social interactions, teach discipline and responsibility, spark creativity  and give tools for stress management

This afternoon will start with a  gentle yoga class finishing with  deep relaxation. Then the pampering will begin!   Sit back in a comfortable chair with a Wellbeing tea and healthy snack and immerse your feet in a warm foot bath whilst we prepare your personalised aromatherapy treatments.    Your choice of essential oils from our range will be carefully blended into the salts, scrubs and lotion we will be using.   During the pampering session you will be offered an exfoliating salt scrub for your feet and calves, a luxurious hand and arm massage and a soothing head massage.    Our Mini Spa will leave you relaxed and glowing.   Finally we will give you a complimentary gift to take home.    These retreats fill quickly and numbers are limited, so book early.

24th     A Hike to Abbotsford Convent    Sunday 

 

We need nature!     We will leave the yoga centre at 10.00am and drive to Studley Park in Kew.   From there we will follow the beautiful, tranquil walk along the Yarra river to the Abbotsford Convent.  It's a very easy walk and we will have lunch at the Convent and enjoy some time there, looking at the market or having a chai.     Everyone welcome,  we'll be car pooling and please bring a picnic lunch, water, sun hat, sun screen and closed toe shoes.   Please contact us direct if you would like to join us.

This retreat will start with a short chant, then meditation practice, sitting and walking.  There will be some gentle yoga postures, deep relaxation and breathing practice too followed by more meditation.     If you want to spend some time in silence, quietening  your mind and be able to experience peace,  this retreat is for you.

26th    Indigenous Guided Walk with Lionel Lauch,     Sunday   Rye   10.00 - 12.30pm 

:

If you are interested in learning about edible and medicinal plants that are all around us in nature  then this is an excellent walk for you.   Lionel will educate everyone in his easygoing manner, sharing knowledge of Indigenous culture and this ancient landscape.  Enjoy a didgeridoo led meditation whilst taking in the gorgeous ocean views.   

 

Bookings must be done online,  $30.00 per person.

Bring a picnic lunch we will eat nearby, and then probably head off to a cafe before driving back.   We are always back by late afternoon.

Come to lunch!   Celebrating the lengthening of the days and the return of light.

23rd    Visit to the Buddhist Temple,   Warburton     Sunday

 

We will leave the yoga centre at 9.00am and driving to Warburton to join the daily lecture at this beautiful temple.    Lunch will be a picnic or in one of the many cafes.   We will also visit the Californian Redwood forest, perhaps doing some meditation there in amongst the trees, it feels like a temple there too.    It will be a very relaxed day, spent out in nature and we will arrive back at the yoga centre late afternoon.     Please contact us direct if you would like to join us.

Take some time out and join us for a deeply nourishing afternoon of relaxation, meditation and chanting with live musicians.   Vedic Vibe musicians Phil, Harb and Sam will offer you an experiential journey singing in Sanskrit and English.  The musicians comprise Phil Gunter, who has a masters in Ethnomusicology , Harb Gill who has enjoyed 25 years of leading chants around the world and Sam Cox who organises regular community chants.  The trio have led chants at festivals including Mind Body Spirit, Illumin8, and the Melbourne Fringe Festival's One En-Chanted Evening.  Bookings are appreciated, so   BOOK HERE   or contact us direct.

 

 

28th    National Tree Day,   Giving Back    Sunday from 9.00am 

 

 

Each year we join a local group and help them to plant trees at Karkarook Park, Warrigal Road,  Heatherton.  This is feel good work, with many cultures in our community coming together to help out.    Since Tree Day started over 10.5 million native trees and shrube have been planted by more than a million volunteers.   Tree planting makes a positive difference to our environment, and helps our precious native animals and plants survive in Australia's diverse natural settings.

Spring is here and it's a beautiful time to get out into the country.  Come and spend a relaxing day out amongst nature.    Destination will be decided closer to the time.
